Sheena Black, M.D.

Dr. Black is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in orthopedic sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery. Her areas of specialty include minimally invasive surgery of the knee, shoulder and hip, as well.

After graduating summa cum laude from The University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Black attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, an honor given to those graduating in the top 10% of their class. She then completed her residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Parkland Hospital in Dallas, TX. After residency Dr. Black trained directly under many of the world’s top experts in orthopedic sports medicine and hip, shoulder, and knee arthroscopy and reconstruction during her Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery Fellowship at The Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, NY. During her fellowship, she was an assistant team physician for the New York Knicks and Iona College.

Throughout her clinical training, Dr. Black has been involved in research in the field of orthopedics. She is the author of many peer-reviewed scientific papers and has presented at national meetings. She is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopic Association of North America, and the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy.

In her spare time, Dr. Black enjoys spending time with her husband and chasing after their three sons and Labrador. She is also a sports enthusiast and likes staying active with riding her Peloton, running, group fitness classes, and fishing.
